Verify a Licence

Use this page to confirm licence status by reference number, entity name, or register details. Built for counterparties, payment providers, vendors, affiliates, and applicants who need a clean status check without guessing.

Reference number checks Status meaning Red-flag workflow

Best input

Use the exact reference number first. Entity name checks are useful, but reference number checks are cleaner.

Don’t get finessed

Matching a name is not enough. Status, category, issue date, and register alignment all need to match.

Red flag

Any mismatch between the claimed licence, category, or entity name should be escalated before onboarding.

Verification search

Demo structure for frontend build. Wire it later to the register dataset or verification API.

Example format: NGL-2026-00418 or the full registered entity name as published.

Active Suspended / Pending Revoked / No match
Sample verification result Placeholder demo for UI/UX only

Next step Use this with your onboarding file and retain a screenshot/export.

Verification workflow (diagram)

How a proper check should work. Name match alone is not enough. That’s how people get catfished by PDFs.

Status guide

What each state should mean in practice.

Status Meaning Counterparty action
Active Licence is valid and the record matches the published register data. Proceed with normal due diligence and keep an audit copy.
Pending publication Decision may exist, but the record is not yet fully published. Do not rely on verbal claims alone. Request formal confirmation.
Suspended Status is not currently in good standing for normal reliance. Escalate internally before onboarding or continuing services.
Revoked / Cancelled Licence is no longer valid. Do not rely on the claim. Treat as failed verification.
No match No corresponding published record was found for the supplied details. Ask for the exact reference number and re-check. If still no match, stop there.

Big red flag

If the claimed category says one thing and the published record says another, treat the claim as unverified until resolved.

Red-flag checks

The stuff that catches sloppy claims fast.

Reference mismatch

Entity claims a number that does not exist or points to someone else.

Category mismatch

Claimed as Operator, published as Supplier, or vice versa.

Status mismatch

PDF or screenshot says active, register says suspended or nothing at all.

Name variation abuse

Using a similar trade name to impersonate a different registered entity.

Old document reliance

Sending an old certificate while current register state changed later.

Incomplete onboarding file

No saved verification record, screenshot, or date-stamped check on file.

Best practice: save a date-stamped verification result to your onboarding or vendor due diligence file.
